Your Voice

Hello everyone!

I'm curious as to what are some of the ways youth are expressing their voices in their cities but also on the state level. Even though our youth council, the Hampton Youth Commission, is not very vocal on the state level, we have a strong voice in the City of Hapmton. Youth are able to voice their concerns to us, the members of the Youth Commission at our public meetings. We can either bring their concerns to City Council, give the teens the resources to solve the problem themselves through a grant which can range from $1,000 to $5,000, or pass policy to implement change. Also, we have a government document called the Youth Component of the Community Plan listing the major concerns of teens but also strategies for addressing those concerns. Hampton is doing some pretty cool things to give teens a voice and empower them, but I know we are not the only one...

What are some interesting ways that your city gives teens a VOICE?
